Chemical & Corrosion Resistance Properties

This is where you need a panel strategy. Bellcomb will uncover the exposure and performance parameters for your panel needs; we call this the total service environment. We’ll take this into account when we select the most appropriate skin and core combination for your application. Most Bellcomb panels have flatness, stiffness and deflection characteristics to consider as well. This performance expectation can determine, for instance, whether your panel is framed or unframed. This is where Bellcomb offers you so much. You talk and we listen; we ask you questions and you describe your problem. We truly offer a customer engineered solution using structural composite lightweight panels.

SKIN MATERIALS

Bellcomb can boost the level of chemical and corrosion resistance of our composite panels by using more resistant skin materials, such as Stainless Steel, or through the use of polymers or metal coatings (e.g., anodizing or galvanizing) on less resistant materials. Specifically, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Plastic Sheets and extruded FRP are excellent skins for resisting chemicals and corrosion. We offer many potential solutions to our clients’ requirements, depending on the how a panel is built and how it’s to be used. Expertly paired skin and core materials can complement each material’s strengths and offset deficiencies, producing the best overall panel to meet your needs.

Highest rated skin materials for chemical and corrosion resistance:

  • Stainless Steel
  • Aluminum
  • Plastic Sheets
  • Extruded FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester)

CORE MATERIALS

Bellcomb offers a number of different materials to address your needs appropriately and cost-effectively when chemical and corrosion resistance is a primary concern. While several core materials may be equally resistant to chemicals and corrosion, each is likely to be significantly different in other characteristics. For example, Aluminum is the strongest material among our highly chemical and corrosion resistant core materials set, but it offers relatively low impact resistance. Nomex™ may be the most lightweight material of the set, yet it doesn’t rank as high in sound absorption. Through carefully selecting core and skin materials combinations, Bellcomb can achieve the chemical and corrosion resistance your panel requires.

Highest rated core materials for chemical and corrosion resistance:

  • Aluminum honeycomb
  • Polypropylene honeycomb
  • Nomex™ honeycomb
  • Polystyrene Ribbon honeycomb
  • Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) foam
